Thankful Thursday v.11.15

Linking up with Sar and Meghan for some gratitude attitude on this Thankful Thursday.

This week, I'm particularly thankful for:

1 - My BFF Cheryl, who lent me her rotary cutter and cutting mats for my reupholstery project. How did I not know these products existed? Talk about turning a nasty job into an easy task!

2 - Friends who understand and cooperate with my philosophy that time spent together during the holiday season is much more important than exchanging Christmas gifts. We downsized our Christmas list a few years ago, and now exchange gifts with immediate family only. Less stressful and much more meaningful!

3 - The thirty or so family members who participate in our annual holiday party during the Christmas season. (I'm hosting this year, so planning is already on my mind) In the one and only exception to our downsized Christmas list, everyone who attends brings a new <$20 gift and we have a hilarious, rowdy gift exchange. Can't wait!

4 - My talented, compassionate dental care team. I have great teeth but troublesome gums, and must have my teeth cleaned 4X a year. My hygienist always does a wonderful job, with very little discomfort involved. But I still don't like to go!

5 - Electronic communication. I love being able to keep in contact with family, old friends, new friends, and the world at large via text messages, emails, Facebook, Twitter and blogs. Love them all, except when they contain TMI!

Hope you find many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season!

Thankful Thursday v.2

Once again, I'm linking up with Sar and Meghan's month-long Gratitude Attitude project for Thankful Thursday. Here's what I'm grateful for this week:

{one}

I'm extremely thankful that the elections are over. I fervently wish all our candidates would vow to concentrate on their own qualifications and records rather than bashing their opponents.

{two}

I'm thankful that the voters of my state are concerned with the basic civil rights of all citizens. This is obvious in both the referendums we consider as well as the candidates we select, and it's yet another reason why I love the state of Washington.

{three}

I'm happy that the weather cooperated this week so my husband and I could put up the exterior Christmas lights. We traditionally turn on the lights immediately after Thanksgiving dinner.

{four}

I'm thankful for my weekly yoga class. The stretches are wonderful for my new hip, the interaction with my classmates is hilarious, and the reflection and introspection is good for my soul.

{five}

This week in particular, I thank God for the warmth and safety of my home, for all the utilities we take for granted, and for our easy access to fuel and groceries. Our hearts go out to those in the storm-ravaged parts of the country.

Here's wishing you have a wonderful week...remember to hug those you love!

Thankful Thursday v.1

As we head into the holiday season, I'm linking up with Sar and Meghan's Gratitude Attitude project. What a great idea! Here's what I'm grateful for this week:

Thankful Thursday

I'm grateful my husband and I have a good relationship with each of our children. I know many people who are estranged from their siblings or parents, and I find that sad beyond measure. I am so thankful to talk to my babies (who are 29 & 26) a few times each week.

Back in the day

I'm grateful to live in the beautiful Pacific NW. Our moderate climate means the weather is never unreasonably hot nor unreasonably cold for more than a day or two, and also ensures we'll get lots of rain. I'm thankful we're out of the path of hurricanes or superstorms, and glad that we won't experience the drastic drought seen by much of the South this year.

I'm grateful for good health! In the past week, two of my brothers each got a knee replaced, and a good friend got his shoulder replaced. My bones may creak and my joints may ache (and I'm too short for my weight), but I'm thankful that my overall health is good.

I'm grateful for sticky hugs from my two favorite goblins.

Mario and a beautiful princess

Hope you are thankful for the wonders in your world. Share with us!
